Shape names the silhouette
Round, oval, pear and heart describe the outline. Emerald and Asscher also identify familiar step-cut styles. Stones within a shape can differ in proportion, facet pattern and appearance.
Cut needs its own assessment
Check which cut information the particular laboratory report provides for that stone. Do not transfer a grading system to a shape for which it is not stated. Combine report details with images or video that show light performance and symmetry.
